Ill-fitting dentures

Dentures after some time usually become loose due to bone loss and thats how they become ill fitting. This causes discomfort and leaves sores and ulcers on the mucosa. These days, implant supported dentures are the ideal solution.

Bridges

Bridges are made up of one or more dental crowns that are joined together and fixed (cemented) to the teeth on the sides of the missing tooth for a secure and functional fit. Bridges involve placing crowns on the adjoining teeth as part of the structure for support of the bridge. X-rays, impressions and, in many cases, photographs are taken to assist in the design and fabrication of a bridge. Since a bridge does involve several teeth, great care is taken in the crafting and preparation of the bridge to ensure stability, a good fit and the desired functionality.

Crowns

Crowns are dental restorations that are placed over a tooth when other procedures like Bonding or Veneers are simply not enough to restore the damaged tooth. Dental crowns are a popular form of treatment for patients with damaged, broken or worn-down teeth that restore a tooth’s shape and strength, improving the cosmetic appearance of a tooth. Additionally, crowns can protect teeth that have been filled by root-canal treatment. Crowns are permanently cemented to your existing teeth thus requiring the same level of care and attention as your natural teeth. Dental crowns can be aesthetically fabricated to reflect “light” like natural teeth, and mimics the shape, size and colour of the surrounding teeth.

Dental crowns can be made from metal, such as gold, ceramic materials such as porcelain, or a combination of both, known as Porcelain-fused-to metal or ZIRCONIA. Metal dental crowns are usually placed on those teeth that are not overly visible when a person smiles. Dental crowns fabricated from all porcelain possess a translucency that makes them the most cosmetically pleasing of all of the different types of dental crowns. Although they can be very natural in appearance, they lack strength making them the material of choice for front teeth, due to chewing and biting forces exerted on these teeth. Porcelain-fused-to-metal dental crowns can be a good choice for either front or back teeth as they are a hybrid of porcelain and metal. Therefore, they will provide an aesthetically looking crown with sufficient support to withstand the natural biting forces, but they are not aesthetically as good as ZIRCONIA. Moreover there are chances of porcelain chipping and wearing out over a period of time when metal starts showing up. Therefore, ZIRCONIA crown is preferable crown instead of porcelain fused to metal. Metal in the crowns irritates the gum margin and over a period of time the gum recedes and the metal margin which appears like a black line starts showing near the gum line.

Dentures

Dentures are custom-made replacements for missing teeth and can be taken out and put back into your mouth. While dentures take some time getting used to, and will never feel exactly the same as natural teeth, today’s dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever.

Replacing missing teeth will help to improve your appearance and smile. Without support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. Dentures can help you eat and speak more comfortably. There are two main types of dentures: Full and Partial.
